Experience with higher education and/or public sector projects, including procurement policies, and the governing authority regulations.

Experience with accessibility standards, design and construction methods, especially with remodeling projects.

Experience with sustainable design and construction, with LEED AP credential.

Job Description:

Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Facilities Project Manager II or III to provide project management services for small to moderate size capital projects for renovation or new construction of campus facilities.

Responsibilities include leading the project team and coordination of project activities on assigned capital projects with primary responsibility for management and coordination of design phase activates; administering professional services agreements between Owner and consultants; and serving as the primary contact for the university client and design professionals (architects, engineers, cost consultants, and other specialized consultants). This position also coordinates and monitors work of design professionals to assure compliance with the building program (requirements for the project), user requirements, university requirements, and standards for high quality architectural and engineering design; develops project budget and manages project funds throughout the life of the project; assures that all required project approvals are obtained as appropriate; and works as a team with the ISU construction manager on assigned projects.

In addition to the above listed duties the Facilities Project Manager III will be expected to handle moderate to large capital projects. The incumbent would be expected to handle these projects with more autonomy and with substantial ingenuity.

The successful candidate will possess good communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to lead diverse project teams with conflicting interests, needs or requirements; and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The Facilities Project Manager position will be filled at the Facilities Project Manager I I or III level. The level II position has minimum required qualifications of a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience and is a PS809 pay level. The level III position has minimum required qualifications of a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience and is a PS810 pay level.
