Job Summary
The Painter will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish interior and exterior surfaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Measures area to be painted; determines quantity and type of paint to use for the project.
• Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed.
• Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods.
• Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other non-painted surfaces.
• Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, stencils, and other tools.
• Performs basic stencil and line work, which may include painting lines on factory floors, parking lots, and other surfaces.
• May apply wallpaper, specialty finishes, and glazes.
• Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.
• Builds scaffolding according to safety regulations.
• Maintains a clean work area.
• Prepares invoices and other paperwork detailing material and labor time and costs.
• Conducts minor repair of wood finishes.
• Assists in hanging signage and art work.
• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma, GED, or similar certification required, one year certificate from a college or technical school preferred; with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Position Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, Registration
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver license.
• Completion of MVR prior to hire and annually with an Acceptable grading criteria.
• Proof of insurance upon hire and annually for personal vehicles used for company business (recommended minimum of $100,000 for property damage and $300,000 for bodily injury).
• Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, and others.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients, families and other employees or the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear; and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to distinguish among colors. Prolonged periods of standing and painting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee may be exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of radiation; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat.
Due to the nature of business in a health care setting, although risk is minimal, any employee of St. Anthony may be exposed to airborne particles, blood borne pathogens, unpleasant sights, odors, and/or materials in patient care and/or provider work areas.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
