Volt has an opportunity for you to become part of a prestigious team of professionals. We are seeking an Aftertreatment Continuous Improvement Engineer to work onsite at John Deere’s facility in Waterloo, IA. This is a contingent position forecasted for one year.

Within this role, you will:

  • Investigate and resolve aftertreatment related field issues to improve customer experience and make progress towards achieving Distinctive Product Quality goals for all John Deere engines across engine series

  • Lead structured root cause investigations on aftertreatment failures and high occurrence diagnostic trouble codes and drive corrective action implementation

  • Work within a team whose members are passionate about creating a supportive environment, excellence and exceeding customer expectation

  • Provide technical support to Customer Support, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality and Supply Management organizations

  • Develop component specifications as required that improve reliability, cost and performance

  • Ensure lessons learned from field issues are integrated into the next generation product as well as knowledge management documentation

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field

  • 2+ years of engineering experience with diesel engines or aftertreatment design and development, engine subsystems, or component development and qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems, think critically, and generate conclusions/ solutions from technical data

  • Ability and willingness to travel, up to 15%

A strong candidate will also have:

  • Aftertreatment design or development experience

  • Experience with service diagnostic tools, lab and field test equipment, data acquisition and analysis tools

  • Experience with engine calibration, engine performance testing and/or electronic engine control systems

  • Experience in Product Verification and Validation test planning and execution

  • Experience in roles that demonstrate a working knowledge of product development and release life cycle

  • Product/process non-conformance and corrective action (NCCA) experience

  • Understanding of reliability concepts

  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Six Sigma, or system engineering experience

* This position is located in Waterloo, IA. Candidates must be able to relocate to this location at their own expense. *
