Position Description:
Under general supervision, applies knowledge and skill at the journey level to install and repair piping, fixtures, appliances and appurtenances related to steam, water and drainage systems, and performs other duties related to incidental thereto. Examples of job duties include servicing wall hung stools and urinals w/flush valve assemblies; repairing and replacing automatic faucets; repairing and replacing copper pipe using soldering techniques; cutting and replacing cast iron soil pipe; cutting and threading steel pipe; drain line repairing, augering and televising; installing water heaters, water softeners and other domestic water components; minimal residential plumbing; basic welding with either mig, tig or stick; and fire hydrant and in ground water main valve exercising. This is a first shift position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pay grade for the Pipefitter classification is 12/7 with a starting hourly wage of $27.69. Potential for higher starting wage based on qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
Six years of experience in the trade, which may include an apprenticeship; journey level plumbing license or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment; and a valid driver's license required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Possession of backflow license preferred.
