Job Summary

Become part of the growing Commercial Systems Engineering ASIC/FPGA Design Solutions team. This position is for anElectrical or Computer Engineer that will be involved in the design, implementation, verification and integration of a wide variety of high-performance digital systems that incorporate ASICs, FPGAs, and MPSOCs into a product solution. As an engineer in this organization, you will be employing best practice design methodologies supporting our next generation of Avionics Products, in addition to numerous products enterprise-wide.

This position is located in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Job Responsibilities

  • ASIC/FPGA digital design in VHDL, Verilog, and System Verilog

  • RTL coding and simulation in System Verilog

  • Requirements-based testbench development for the verification of RTL blocks using VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog

  • Apply knowledge of product domain, technology domain, processes, tools, methods, work flow and best practices for hardware development with primary emphasis on electrical designs.

  • Provides engineering estimates for own work on tasks similar to those previously performed.

  • Understands and utilizes the appropriate RC processes and tools during product development, resulting in increased product quality and improving customer satisfaction.

  • Contribute to hardware engineering requirements in the capture, analysis and creation for components of electrical designs.

  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration, pre- qualification and qualification for products and sub-systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Familiarity using FPGA specific tools (e.g. Vivado, Libero, and Quartus).

  • Familiarity with data interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, CDN, ARINC-429...)

  • Familiarity with implementing solutions that contain 3rd party IP.

  • Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools (e.g. Clearcase, Subversion)

  • Familiarity using ASIC/FPGA simulation tools such as Questasim.

  • Perform timing analysis and achieving timing closure.

  • Knowledge of OVM/UVM Methodology.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

  • This position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30 am to 4:30 pm workday, or beyond a 40 hour work week.

Desired Skills of Successful Candidate

  • Familiarity with best practice chip-level verification techniques and languages (e.g. constrained random, functional coverage, SystemVerilog).

  • ASIC / FPGA lab validation with advanced lab equipment

  • Design for Test (DFT) and manufacturability issues

  • Familiarity with Unix, scripting, C/C++, Python, and/or Perl.

  • Familiarity with SoC based designs including ARM Core architectures.

  • Familiarity with developing in an Agile environment and knowledge of the Agile principles.
