This position will coordinate and execute the electrical-mechanical engineering of medium and high voltage air insulated substation bus and switchgear.The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a power systems focus. Additionally a valid driver's license will be required, as some travel is necessary for projects and assignments.Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Provide engineering services during the scope, design, and construction stages of medium and high-voltage air insulated substation bus and switchgear.Work with, or lead, the team to ensure deliverables meet expected quality, costs, and adherence to schedule.Develop single line diagrams, general arrangement and section drawings, control schematics and equipment wiring, raceway systems, grounding systems, station service, and bills of materials for the substation design packages.Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of electro-mechanical design packages from internal engineering, outsource sub-contractor engineering, and equipment factories.Perform studies and analyses, including rigid bus analyses, grounding analyses, lightning protection, illumination studies, auxiliary power system studies, and equipment rating analyses.Generate equipment specifications, monitor vendor technical compliance, and witness factory acceptance testing as applicable.Evaluate, recommend, and select high voltage equipment for projects and standards.Utilize knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) to ensure that designs comply with the required safety clearances.Provide construction, installation, and commissioning support.Alliant Energy will not provide sponsorship for an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa) now or in the future for this position.Job ResponsibilitiesWorks on routine assignments in a structured environment under close supervision, typically with a more experienced engineer's review and oversight.Participates in Safe Start training to understand the philosophy of zero injuries.
