In this challenging role you will provide cost effective and customer-focused distribution and standards engineering services, and provide functional distribution and standards engineering expertise and support throughout the electric system.Alliant Energy will not provide sponsorship for an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa) now or in the future for this position.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for developing and implementing an operating plan for the distribution engineering organization. This includes the vision, mission, guiding principles, goals, strategies, budget, action plans, and performance measurements required to ensure cost effective electric asset planning that is in line with corporate goals.Consults with various business unit representatives to identify process improvement opportunities and promote a service partnership linkage to support their needs. Meets with regional customer operations directors to establish goals and service level agreements to ensure the distribution engineering organization is meeting the needs of the field organization.Develops and coordinates the implementation of cost effective electric system policies and practices to support operating business unit processes. Develops and executes overall plan to assess and manage aging distribution infrastructure.Provides functional leadership between field operating personnel, customer representatives and general office departments to ensure alignment with strategic plan. Interface with business unit representatives on cross-functional project teams.Responsible for the analysis of electric distribution delivery systems to identify and resolve system performance problems.Work with state and/or federal regulators to help ensure that strategic goals are reached in the development of codes, regulations, and reporting requirements.Provides support and leadership for non-commodity work.Evaluates workload and makes decisions concerning overall placement of distribution engineering resources.Performs all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, discipline, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling, models Alliant Energy's Core Values at all times.Job QualificationsEducation Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Professional Engineer certification preferred.Experience Requirements:5 years of related experience (In the absence of a degree, 9 years of experience is required.)3 years supervisory experience or equivalent. (Equivalent supervisory experiences may include project management, providing work direction, leadership experience through temporary assignments, roles in the community or external organizations, or other demonstrated leadership experience.)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:Demonstrated knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code Standards and National Electrical Code preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of electric system components, power flow analysis and system protection practices preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility system engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction practices preferred.Demonstrated effective leadership skills.Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.Promotes and supports diversity initiatives and equal employment opportunity.Must possess a valid driver's license.Disclaimer: The above information on this descri
