Summary
As one of the top Skyworks design centers, Skyworks Cedar Rapids design center has leading R&D and product development capabilities. It is seeking engineering talent with expertise in RF/microwave, RFIC design, and PA product development to meet rapidly increasing customer demand.

Responsibilities include directing, leading and managing the technical activities in one or more engineering disciplines. Evaluates final results of research and development projects to assure accomplishment of technical objectives. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
The successful candidate will be part of a multi-discipline team developing front-end module for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market. Candidates will have opportunities to participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug and production support.
Skyworks is seeking a motivated Design Engineering Manager with a solid background in RF module testing, excellent communication skills, and a strong drive to produce best-in-class products. The candidate will be responsible for technical leadership in the testing of RF front end module used in mobile wireless applications. The candidate will work closely with module design engineers, RFIC design engineering teams, product engineering, and test engineering teams to develop cutting edge wireless products to the market.
Job Requirements
Lead team of validation engineers through compliance matrix testing, supporting test engineering and product engineering teams
Work with a multidisciplinary team of PA, RF switch, LNA, Filter, and multi-chip module (MCM) designers to support fully integrated front-end module designs
Coordinate with test engineering (TE), systems engineering (SE), product engineering (PE), and design verification test (DVT) teams to characterize front-end modules (FEM) from initial design through high-volume production
Good communication skills both verbal and written and logical reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, reporting progress, and executing schedule
Create test files for component and die level verification using Skyworks proprietary software
Work with test engineering (TE) teams to create and debug test stations for various issues, such as noise floor limitations, new spec requirements, and improved test efficiency
Understand register maps and able to translate them to SWIPI table and MTS states
Familiar with 3GPP MIPI protocols and ability to translate register maps into MIPI commands for complex FEMs
Familiar with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners
Experience with automated data analysis with C/C#/C++/Matlab/Python
Understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/LTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering + 8 years experience or MSEE + 6 years experience
Qualifications
Solid understanding of device and process technologies
Experience in system architecture, circuit topology, and MCM floorplan
Experience in FEM product development and customer interaction
Good understanding of acoustic filters such as SAW and BAW filters.
Experience in co-sim of multiple technologies such as digital, analog, and RF circuits
Solid understanding of RF concepts such as impedance matching, impedance transformation, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, and stability
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $110,600 - $210,600 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
