Description:

Plant Engineering provides preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance to the buildings, equipment, and grounds for Mercy Medical Center.

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for maintenance, repair, and installation of sprinkler, plumbing, and all related plumbing specialized types of equipment. Also, responsible for maintenance, repair, and installation of other major pieces of mechanical equipment and systems related to utility distribution. For example boilers, chillers, cooling towers, condensers, FCU, VAV boxes, motors, pumps, valves, building automation systems, medical gas, and refrigeration

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing systems and related equipment for MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and associated property.

The customer population served by Plant Engineering is any person accessing Mercy Medical Center's services and/or facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, patients, families, physicians, staff, visitors, vehicular traffic, and pedestrian traffic. Additionally, the customer population represents persons with varying degrees of permanent and/or temporary physical disabilities. The maintenance and design of the facilities must consider these needs and meet or exceed the same.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school graduate required.

  2. Two years experience in mechanical maintenance required, previous experience in plumbing maintenance.

  3. Journeyman plumbing license preferred.

  4. Must be able to maintain, repair and replace existing utility systems and write up material specifications for projects.

  5. Mechanical aptitude and proven ability to use hand and power tools, to work on ladders at various heights, and demonstrate a safety-conscious attitude.

  6. Ability to operate large vehicles, tractors, plows, and various lawn equipment.

  7. Must have valid Driver's License.

  8. Must be able to work with limited supervision to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner and have the ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.

  9. Ability and willing to work in a variety of environments, including office settings, classrooms, laboratories, mechanical rooms, service tunnels, and outside areas.

  10. Must be comfortable operating in a shared leadership environment and collaborative team environment, including mentoring and sharing knowledge with co-workers and contracted services.

  11. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.

  12. Excellent customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  13. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented and have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

  14. Comfortable using Microsoft office suite including word, email, mobile communication devices, and various internet applications

  15. Willingness and ability to complete assigned training programs

  16. Must be able to test and pass safety competencies and uphold safety procedures consistently.
