Title: 50856022 - Electrical Systems Design Engineer - 63705

Your Position:

As an Electrical Systems Design Engineer, for the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division (Davenport, IA) you will provide engineering support for the design of the electrical systems and software of all existing Motor Graders. In addition, you will:

  • Improve vehicle quality, primarily failures per machine (FPM), of all existing motor graders through diagnosis of electrical system issues and trouble codes

  • Help develop and manage electrical and software upgrades for existing graders

  • Work closely with the appropriate customers, suppliers and John Deere cross functional teams while driving toward solutions to continuous improvement, quality improvement, cost reduction and other special projects

  • Perform design and analysis work to improve the components/systems by following projects through the problem resolution process

  • Support customer issues in the field through Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC)

  • Support resolution of production line issues by troubleshooting electrical and software systems

What Skills You Need

  • Engineering experience gained from educational projects, relevant internships or practical work experience

  • Good understanding of electronic hardware, circuit design and analysis

  • Strong, demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Experience managing several projects simultaneously

  • Ability to apply engineering principles to machine design

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 15% per year

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with Electrical Systems and Software design

  • Experience with SAE J1939 or ISO11783 CAN communications

  • Experience with ISO 13849 for global electronics requirements

  • Experience with Creo (Pro-E) or other 3D modeling packages and modeling tools

  • Experience with PDMLink/SAP or other data management tools

  • Experience working with customers and end users

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Knowledge of Embedded Software Design and Coding

  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydrostatic, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic and powertrain systems

  • A background in robotics, guidance, automation or construction and off-highway equipment

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
