Our members hold themselves personally responsible for client success and the progress of the firm.We are seeking a Civil Engineer for our Muscatine, IA; Des Moines, IA, or Phoenix, AZ office. This position will perform civil related design including military base, airfield, road and site design. The position will include plan and specification preparation. The successful candidate will exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design decisions and modifications. The position will be initially accountable to a Project Lead/Manager with potential transition to be accountable to a Client. The position will potentially lead a design team with responsibility for delegating work tasks, managing the work schedule and ensuring proper work coordination amongst the team and with other technical disciplines.Work will be on projects for Department of Defense or other federal clients from a variety of branches and districts, and will involve domestic and international standards. Work will also be on local projects for private industrial clients, public institutions and municipalities.Job responsibilities:Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates technical design engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significantly affect major projects.Plans, organizes and recommends programs and resources for the discipline to meet the objectives of the technical organization.Determines client requirements and develops specifications, drawings, instructions and related documents.Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental studies and designs for projects.Evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations.Serves as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within design areas.Assists in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects.Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities.Attends onsite and offsite client meetings. Domestic and international travel will be required.Skills, education and experience:Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering required.Minimum of 5 years relevant experience required.Proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment preferred.Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software and tools for the development of site civil grading, corridor models, sections/section views, and general civil paving and grading designs are a plus, but not required.Microstation/ Open Roads skills are a plus, but not required.Ability to work in multi-office, multi-discipline team en
