Job Description

AECOM is seeking for a Mid-Level Civil Engineer to be based in Des Moines, Iowa .

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Geometric design of roadways creating horizontal and vertical alignments and cross sections

• Preparation of design reports including pavement design reports, design study reports, and technical memorandums

• Coordination with project stakeholders including clients, public, utility companies, and permitting agencies.

• Plan preparation in accordance with IowaDOT standards including erosion control, pavement marking, permanent signing, traffic control, plan and profiles, and cross sections

• Calculate quantities and estimates for IowaDOT and local transportation projects

• Local marketing to build the AECOM brand in the local communities

• Successful candidates will be expected to work independently and in design teams to advance projects through the IowaDOT process.

• Knowledge of IowaDOT and municipal standards for highway and other infrastructure design is required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

• BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

• Motor Vehicle Check will be required

Preferred Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university

• 5+ years of experience

• A current P.E. license in the State of Iowa

• IowaDOT design experience

• Experience preparing construction plans

• Knowledge of agency/regulatory approval process

• Successfully designing multiple projects and producing quality work under tight deadlines

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills experience

• Municipal utility design experience

• Stormwater and storm sewer design experience
