The Project Manager’s primary role is to lead the business and operations units in the identification and implementation of business solutions.
The Project Manager’s primary role is to lead the business and operations units in projects of varying size and complexity. These projects may include the identification and implementation of business solutions that satisfy business needs for function, feature, and/or process. They will lead projects in a high quality cost-effective way, by organizing, analyzing, planning, managing and documenting projects that deliver the desired solution or outcome while keeping the project team and stakeholders fully informed of risks, issues, and progress throughout the duration of the project.
Primary Functions and/or Responsibilities:
Provides project management support for the project portfolio, as well other Line-of-Business and Operations initiatives.
Interface with third party vendors that supply business solutions to supplement and integrate their project plans for installation or upgrades of vendor-supplied software or services.
Determines project team resource needs (and their roles and responsibilities) for all aspects of assigned projects and acquires needed resources from departmental managers.
Prepares and facilitates the gathering of information from stakeholders and subject manner experts that is necessary to build executable project plans and schedules. Updates the project plan and schedule as needed during the project.
Interfaces with the vendors as needed to secure Bank resources to keep their portion of the project on schedule.
Tracks and resolves issues, reports on late and slipping tasks, facilitates decision-making, and reports on decisions made.
Prepares executive reporting of progress on major projects.
Collaborates with the project team in the building of the Test Plan and scripts to understand its impacts upon the project plan and schedule and to ensure that they are compatible. (per assigned project)
Insures that all projects are done in a manner that extends and complies with the Banks’ Information Security Plan, Change Management Policy and Business Continuity Plan. Also verifies that projects are reviewed for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Responsible for making sure that the project documents are sufficient to provide for auditing of the project following completion.
Leads multiple projects simultaneously and has the ability to multi-task and control project deliverables and expectations.
Supports the Project Portfolio planning process from a “hands on” perspective by providing current project sizing, duration, and status information.
Functions as the primary project communication link between vendors and bank staff on projects he/she is leading. Coordinates all vendor communication on these projects by coordinating team calls with vendor or direct communication with vendor and dissemination of notes from these calls.
Follows the project management methodology established for the bank and ensures other members of project team also follow the project management methodology.
Plans and Manages the gathering, definition, analysis, and documentation of functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements for their assigned projects.
Identifies the current state of processes; eliciting their useful and harmful attributes; documenting models of “As-Is” and “To-Be” processes; and facilitating stakeholder groups to consensus regarding new business process designs.
Creates project test plans and test scripts, manages all activities identified in the plan, and leads the assigned resources in the execution of the plan to ensure that all objectives are met and the solution performs as expected.
Manage relationships with end users and business owners to insure deliverables exceed expectations.
Provide superior customer service to all employees at multiple locations.
Education and Experience for PM level I:
4-year degree in Business, Management Information Systems, is highly desired. An equivalent degree or experience will also be considered.
2–4 years of experience managing projects in a business environment (the banking industry is preferred), including projects driven by third party vendors
2-3 years’ experience in a financial institution is desirable, working with the technology solutions utilized within the Business Unit supported or their equivalents. Could include the following systems: Core, Loans, Collections, Deposits, CIS, Platform, Teller, Internet Banking, Bill Pay, ACH, Item Processing, ATM’s and Card Processing, Data Warehouse, Imaging, Treasury Management services
Project management certification desired, but not required
Education and Experience for PM level II:
4-year degree in Business, Management Information Systems, or Industrial Engineering highly desired. An equivalent degree or experience will also be considered.
5+ years of experience managing projects in a business environment (the banking industry is preferred), including projects driven by third party vendors.
4+ years’ experience in a financial institution is required, working with the technology solutions utilized within the Business Unit supported or their equivalents. Could include the following systems: Core, Loans, Collections, Deposits, CIS, Platform, Teller, Internet Banking, Bill Pay, ACH, Item Processing, ATM’s and Card Processing, Data Warehouse, Imaging, Treasury Management services.
Demonstrated expertise and compliance on the activities identified in the project management methodology used by the Project Management Office.
PMP certification is highly desired, but an active effort towards gaining that certification will also be considered
2+ years managing people and execution of projects
Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Project management and/or business analyst certification desired, but not required
Must possess strong leadership skills
Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Project or a similar project planning and scheduling tool.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must have strong customer service skills.
Must have strong meeting management skills
Must possess the ability to analyze and solve problems.
Working knowledge and understanding of bank operations, including deposit operations, loan operations, electronic banking, and cash management services is preferred.
Working knowledge of Banking Software Applications is preferred.
Working knowledge of Banking/Financial Institution regulatory requirements is preferred.
Working knowledge of process improvement methodologies is desired, but not required.
Working knowledge of Agile principles is beneficial, but not required.
