The Terracon office in Des Moines is looking for an Asbestos Group Manager. As the asbestos group manager, you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor the asbestos team, and grow the grow the groups client base which will result in increased revenue. lead Our group provides services related to asbestos, lead-based paint and mold. Your success will be defined by high employee engagement within their group, high client satisfaction, steady growth in revenues, and profitability. You will foster a team environment and will work with the Environmental Services Field Coordinator, and field technician staff in managing and executing projects. In addition, you will conduct site safety visits for the Environmental Department. While we expect your responsibilities to grow and develop over time, the basic responsibilities are as follows:
Communicate with the field coordinator in the execution of asbestos field services.
Direct the performance of standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required.
Ensure that field personnel keep licenses/certifications up-to-date and that current copies are on file.
Manage the AIHA® Laboratory Accreditation Programs, LLC Proficiency in Analytical Testing (PAT) Program for analysis of asbestos air samples.
Communicate with the field coordinator in managing field equipment and consumable supplies; e.g., ensure that field staff have complete sampling kits and that sampling equipment is in good condition; maintain supplies of sampling and monitoring consumables (sample bags, mold cassettes, asbestos cassettes, etc.); ensure that field staff know how to calibrate and use monitoring equipment; calibrate rotameters against primary standard on a regular basis; manage factory calibration for primary standard, microscopes, etc.
Direct sampling of suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
Direct performance of lead risk assessments in accordance with HUD and OSHA.
Direct performance of oversight and air monitoring during asbestos, lead, and mold abatement projects.
Verify the calibration and proper use of field monitoring equipment such as air sampling pumps, multi-gas monitor, etc.
Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Prepare proposals and reports for quality review and approval.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years related project experience, or 10 years of relevant experience.
Valid driver's license
Candidates with License/Registration will have a leg up. Some of the licenses we prefer would be:
Asbestos Project Designer
NIOSH 582 equivalent
Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor
