Tri-City Electric Regional Superintendent in Des Moines, Iowa

Tri-City Electric Co. is seeking a Regional Superintendent to oversee projects in the Midwest area. (IA, IL, IN) The Regional Superintendent will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and execution of field operations. This role involves overseeing multiple projects, managing field personnel, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations, optimizing project timelines and budgets, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set policies and procedures for the Field Supervision and Field Manpower, including Preconstruction, making sure that projects stay within budget and are poised for success by getting the field what they need to be successful

  • Ensuring there is a clear line of communication between field and project management and between projects

  • Understanding the health of projects by reviewing KPIs, loaders/EVMs, schedules, and project projections

  • Review and evaluate KPIs/loaders/projections for all projects

  • Coach, motivate, mentor, respect, and train ALL field and office employees

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize field operations, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client expectations

  • Oversee and manage a team of field supervisors, electricians, and other field personnel, providing guidance, mentorship, and support

  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to plan and schedule field operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

  • Monitor and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards across all projects

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary

  • Manage resource allocation, equipment utilization, and inventory to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, training programs, and innovative technologies to enhance field operations

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to facilitate successful project delivery and client satisfaction

  • Be part of (Precon) start-up meetings, work with supervision on manpower needs based on estimate and schedule

  • Meet weekly with supervisors to review the progress of projects (Labor/Safety/Constraints/Progress/Productivity)

  • One-on-one “touch base” meetings with key supervisors, Project Management Teams, and the Executive Team every 2 weeks to review issues or concerns of all projects

  • Ensure that Projects are communicating with each other and with the different projects, Construction, Commissioning, Quality, Safety

  • Read and understand local CBA and other union requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or Journeyman Wireman License

  • 10 years of electrical supervision experience

  • 15 years of construction industry experience

  • Excellent knowledge of OSHA and DOL employment standards

  • Sound technical knowledge in electrical equipment, components, and safety controls

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Bluebeam, Dropbox, OneDrive, Smart Sheets, Procore, and PlanGrid

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, regulations, and industry best practices

This is a full-time salary position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday 7:00 am-5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Jobsite requirements mandate this schedule so is subject to change as business needs require. Travel will be regularly required for this position.
