The Position

We are seeking a Product Architect who will serve as the lead systems architect for Personal Lending Group & Operations (PLGO) who will have responsibility across the entire portfolio of PLGO systems. In this role, you will consult and partner with business and technology executives to help set the engineering and architectural direction, provide ongoing architectural support and direction for transformation initiatives. The primary tasks are to drive consistent and wide-spread adoption of CTO initiatives; contribute to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) strategy and ensure that architecture patterns and frameworks uphold it across PLGO.

Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with infrastructure providers on hardening new platforms

  • Advocate and drive for standardization in utilization of the new platforms through best practices, framework, documentation, collaboration peers across the firm and CTO office

  • Advocate and drive simplification of consumption and automation around new platforms

  • Focus on cost efficiency of the new platforms in how we develop and support software

  • Collaborate with firm-wide security team on evolving security patterns for the new platforms

  • Drive efforts to ensure resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance of the applications

  • Transform how Architecture engages with Business and Technology teams to include engaging the business in Architecture decisions

  • Transform Architecture organization to make Architecture practices integral Part of Agile Execution. Establish closer collaboration between Architecture and Self-Organized agile teams. Train and empower teams to work on architecture-related deliverables

  • Drive adoption of Architecture principals, modern platforms, best engineering practices, and tools to support Agile delivery for our customers that allow speed, experimentation, quick pivoting, getting constant customer feedback, minimizing customer impact

  • Focus architecture direction around the broader areas of Cloud, Microservices, Events, and API's

  • Contribute to SRE strategy and ensure that CLT architecture patterns and frameworks uphold it

  • Establish roadmap and drive adoption of Enterprise Pipeline (EPL)

  • Collaborate across Wells Fargo architecture functions while charting the path for future-forward architecture practices

  • Contribute to NFR requirements and drive strategies to uphold NFR's through automation and frameworks

  • Collaborate with infrastructure providers on hardening new platforms

  • Advocate and drive for standardization in utilization of the new platforms through best practices, framework, documentation, collaboration peers across the firm and CTO office

  • Advocate and drive simplification of consumption and automation around new platforms

  • Focus on cost efficiency of the new platforms in how we develop and support software

  • Collaborate with firm-wide security team on evolving security patterns for the new platforms

  • Drive efforts to ensure resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance of the applications

  • Institute deep Domain Driven Design practices. Utilize full spectrum of Domain Driven Design practices to facilitate deep engagement between Business and Technology in defining technology solutions

  • Transform Architecture organization to make Architecture practices integral Part of Agile Execution. Establish closer collaboration between Architecture and Self-Organized agile teams. Train and empower teams to work on architecture-related deliverables

  • Stay abreast of technology innovations and work with peers across Engineering & Architecture and senior leaders in CLT to take advantage of these innovations across CLT

  • Spread innovation. Incorporate Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and container-based architecture into new and existing initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: systems, applications, or architecture planning

  • 5+ years of experience using an industry standard database modeling language

  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience in one or a combination of the following: systems, applications, or architecture planning

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of technology efforts across several major lines of business and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial, operational, technical and regulatory drivers impacting a complex and dynamic global technology environment

  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise and technology strategies

  • Broad experience across multiple areas of technology including one or more of architecture, infrastructure and application development with strong understanding of leading edge as well as legacy and distributed technologies to effectively manage the complex and diverse applications portfolio

  • Proven experience as a highly effective leader with credibility from demonstrating strong business and technology acumen

  • Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style

  • Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood along with the ability to effectively partner and influence at the senior executive level

  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions

  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership
