Job Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Description

Pull customer orders based on invoices and tickets. Assist the burn table operator to pull product for orders. Spend most of the day bending, kneeling, and walking to pull orders. Pull orders from racks and use large cranes to move large steel orders. Move around the 'monkey racks' to help reorganize material and get stock in the racks. Get up and down off the racks of steel to assist with moving orders. Utilize the color system that the company uses to organize raw material based on the thickness of steel cuts. Load and unload trucks and work with customers to help with orders when they pick up products themselves. A typical day involves discussing order and material status with management, reorganizing raw material, helping customers, and loading trucks for morning orders. Daily tasks are detail-oriented, requiring prioritization to ensure correct orders and top-notch customer service.

This is a fully on-site position in Des Moines, Iowa.

Work Environment

Loud and dirty due to the product. A lot of distractions due to customers and orders coming in and out. Large warehouse environment with stacks of steel and racks (called monkey racks). Steel is very heavy, so overhead cranes are used to move much of the product. Hot in the summers and colder in the winters. First shift: 7am-4pm. Smaller team size, fluctuating between 15-20 depending on the time of year, without seasonal layoffs. Warehouse is divided into 4 sections, with each picker specializing in their area. Mostly independent work. Must wear jeans (no shorts for safety reasons), steel-toed boots, and work-appropriate attire.
