Location: Fairfield Resident Construction Engineer Office Shift: 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, hours may vary; may need to respond to emergencies and occasional travel Pay Range: $77,168.00 to $118,310.40 a year As the Resident Construction Engineer (Transportation Engineer Manager), you’ll play a vital role by managing the Construction Residency, acting as the leader of one of two residencies overseeing construction contract administration activities in District 5. This team will be administering $93 million of projects to improve the bridges and roadway during the 2023 Construction Season which includes the following key projects: - PCC Paving project on US 61north of Burlington - Grading project on US 61 for the Mediapolis Bypass - HMA resurfacing on Iowa 78 from US 218 to US 61 - Bridge reconstruction on Iowa 78 over the DME Railroad in Keokuk County - PCC pavement reconstruction of Iowa 1 in Washington County - PCC Pavement - Grade and Replace E of US 218 to 2nd St in Columbus Junction You’ll work with a great team dedicated to improving Iowa roads by: - engage and mentor employees to support team success - act as a liaison with Iowa DOT staff, government officials, contractors, media, and the public - recommend trainings and monitoring performance of all personnel - serve as the primary contact to other agencies and contractors - oversee and administer highway and bridge structure construction - ensure compliance with contracts and projects concepts and resolve any problems - provide consultation for internal and external customers in technical areas assigned - respond to inquiries and resolves technical issues and department policies and regulations - use DOT technical devices and software applications What we offer YOU: - Competitive pay and benefits package including health, dental, flexible spending, and life insurance - Insurance benefits start first of the month following 30 days of employment - Monthly insurance premium (Iowa Choice*): Single: $54/mo. employee share; $715/mo. state share Family: $180/mo. employee share; $1,624.00/mo. state share *Other insurance options available. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:1) All of the following (a and b):a. Licensure as a professional engineer; andb. Three years of full-time professional work experience in transportation engineering or civil engineering, one year of which must have included project management or lead work responsibilities.2) All of the following (a, b, and c):a. Licensure as a professional engineer; andb. Two years of full-time professional work experience in transportation engineering or civil engineering, one year of which must have included project management or lead work responsibilities; andc. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in chemical, civil, construction, environmental, materials, structural, or transportation engineering; engineering management; or a field closely related to transportation engineering.3) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as a Transportation Engineer.For additional information, please click on this link to view the job description. Additional Qualification Requirements
