Silgan Electrician - Industrial / Maintenance in FORT MADISON, Iowa

SILGAN CONTAINERS is the largest provider of metal food packaging in the United States and we are looking for Industrial / Maintenance Electricians to join our team! A great opportunity to join a growing manufacturing plant in Ft. Madison, IA.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, modifying, and performing preventative maintenance, etc. on all electrical units, controls, components, and related wiring in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles.

  • Understanding of wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspections.

  • Relocates and installs existing or new equipment and facilities

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and/or directives. Exercise proper care and protection of company property.

  • Possess strong mechanical skills and assist Line Mechanics as needed.

  • Operate mobile equipment, including forklift trucks, lifts, and booms to assist with all production work.

  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

This position requires the following skills and experience:

  • Associates degree or trade school preferred with a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years related field experience.

  • Must be knowledgeable of Allen Bradley systems, VFDs, PLC hardware and software, AC/DC circuits, 4-20 mA circuits and 480 MCC's.

  • Ability to program logic and demonstrate a working knowledge of RS Logic.

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings, handbooks, specifications, equipment manuals, parts lists and other written material as associated with the position.

  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, electrical test equipment and related tools and instruments necessary to perform the job.

  • Ability to work efficiently to support high speed, fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential.

  • Must have good trouble shooting skills, ability to diagnose and complete repairs in emergency situations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to take direction as well as be self-motivated and work alone.

  • Willingness to work 12-hour rotating crew consisting of days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Must be able to pull, push, bend, climb and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
