Silgan Electrician - Industrial / Maintenance in FORT MADISON, Iowa
SILGAN CONTAINERS is the largest provider of metal food packaging in the United States and we are looking for Industrial / Maintenance Electricians to join our team! A great opportunity to join a growing manufacturing plant in Ft. Madison, IA.
This position is responsible for installing, repairing, modifying, and performing preventative maintenance, etc. on all electrical units, controls, components, and related wiring in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles.
Understanding of wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspections.
Relocates and installs existing or new equipment and facilities
Adhere to all safety regulations and/or directives. Exercise proper care and protection of company property.
Possess strong mechanical skills and assist Line Mechanics as needed.
Operate mobile equipment, including forklift trucks, lifts, and booms to assist with all production work.
Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
This position requires the following skills and experience:
Associates degree or trade school preferred with a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years related field experience.
Must be knowledgeable of Allen Bradley systems, VFDs, PLC hardware and software, AC/DC circuits, 4-20 mA circuits and 480 MCC's.
Ability to program logic and demonstrate a working knowledge of RS Logic.
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings, handbooks, specifications, equipment manuals, parts lists and other written material as associated with the position.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, electrical test equipment and related tools and instruments necessary to perform the job.
Ability to work efficiently to support high speed, fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential.
Must have good trouble shooting skills, ability to diagnose and complete repairs in emergency situations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to take direction as well as be self-motivated and work alone.
Willingness to work 12-hour rotating crew consisting of days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Must be able to pull, push, bend, climb and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
