World Class Industries Inc Project Manager in Hiawatha, Iowa

Mission:

The Project Manager is a leader in creating a positive environment that supports continuous improvement and ensures the work is being put in place in a collaborative and productive manner. The purpose of this job is to assist the WCI Team in the management of resources involved/related to projects and ensure quality work is performed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Project Manager will plan, manage, and execute a portfolio of projects across the lines of business. Projects may span teams, departments, or the entire company. This person works with various stakeholders to identify business goals, plan the initiative, scoping, develop resources, and communicate progress.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the owner of WCI’s project portfolio and management process, including metrics and the standardization of tools and their application.

  • Acts as leader in creating a positive environment that supports continuous improvement and ensures the work is being put in place in a collaborative and productive manner.

  • Increases the effectiveness of cross-functional project work. Serves as a unifying bridge between business development and product realization.

  • Assists project team members in their professional development through mentoring, teaching, training and coaching.

  • Initiates any action required to achieve the project objectives and to ensure that all project activities are consistent with company policy.

  • Prioritizes and plans work activities and approaches work in a methodical manner.

  • Anticipates obstacles to project completion and develops contingency plans.

  • Estimates resources needed for project completion and ensures the timely completion of work.

  • Successfully completes profitable projects from scoping to implementation.

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the project documents and scope of work and reviews it with the project team; is seen as the expert on the project.

  • Identifies project staff and equipment needs and coordinates with management to obtain necessary resources.

Education (preferred):

  • Four-year technical degree and six years of related project management experience or a two-year technical degree with eight years of related project management experience.

  • Project Management Certification

Other Qualifications:

  • Skilled in assisting issues and making decisions and communicating/implementing the decisions quickly

  • Knowledge of manufacturing means, methods and engineering techniques as it relates to the products and services the Company provides

  • Ability to understand and implement standard operating procedures

  • Ability to manage multiple project teams, priorities and competing deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively with management staff, company project staff, vendors, contractors, and project Owners on any issues/problems related to the project

  • Ability to manage project costs effectively and oversee the projection process and various projects

  • Skill in having the vision to see the project through completion, through the eyes of the Owner

  • Skill in listening, problem solving and running effective meetings with the ability to be open-minded

  • Ability to resolve major issues without laying blame

  • Ability to develop win-win scenarios and bring final resolution to issues and problems

  • Knowledge of product costs, labor costs, and associated time frames essential to developing cost effective project budgets

  • Ability to use written and verbal communication effectively

  • Ability to learn and acquire customer specific design needs

  • Ability to understand and value other’s perspective with regards to their concerns

  • Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activities

  • Ability to assist in other work-related areas as necessary
