Position objective:This position will advance ACT’s research activities primarily by providing project management support for selected research projects and initiative leadership and management of discrete interdepartmental or interdivisional research initiatives.
The Project Manager is responsible for accomplishing project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities on small projects or pieces of larger projects. The Project Manager may also assist other project management staff with their projects. This includes completing the project schedule, cost budgeting, scope planning, managing project issues and risk, as well as resource and quality management. This position performs primary work responsibilities with minimal guidance.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide project management on research projects to include:
Establishes project goals, scope, roles and responsibilities; proactively follows up with others to ensure commitments are on track and stay on track; works with project team resources to make sure the appropriate approval on deliverables is obtained.
reates, tracks and manages project schedules; recognizes potential slippage and new dependencies; works with project team to make schedule corrections.
Provides factual representations of project issues, next steps, remediation plans, specific support requests of leaders, and appropriate knowledge of the issue to be able to answer predicted questions (with minimal guidance
Provide initiative, leadership and management, with minimal supervision, on interdepartmental or interdivisional programs to include assuming responsibility for timely deliverables as scheduled and budgeted; developing and maintaining initiative databases, reports, and artifacts; establishing and maintaining initiative schedules; compiling, reviewing, and reporting initiative metrics and status; planning and executing improvement plans for initiatives.
Lead, specific research activities between departments and outside parties to support projects or initiatives.
Communicate with external research clients or partners to support projects or initiatives. Perform minimal executive support tasks including calendaring, expense report, document, and event planning management
- Bachelor’s degree oror an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
A minimum of 2 years of project management related experience, utilizing relevant project management methodologies
Preference for experience with research project or program management in large-scale research settings
