Description

As a Skilled Maintenance Painter, you are responsible for performing skilled work assignments through work order systems, performing various preventative maintenance procedures and all related record keeping tasks, completing work/assignments and paperwork in a timely manner, and ensuring all work is performed according to all related building codes and regulations. Employee must work with limited supervision and initiative in performing assigned tasks. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contacts with various guests, family, and staff to support the many children and families that we serve.

Schedule Monday-Friday typical business hours with rotating on-call responsibilities. Infrequent night availability depending on painting needs.

What You'll Do

  • Follows inspection and service procedures outlined in preventive maintenance programs, plans work to be performed, keeps color schedule for all locations and obtains necessary tools, equipment and materials.

  • Completes work/assignments and paper work in a timely manner.

  • Estimates cost of materials in relation to job.

  • Mixes and matches paints, lacquers, enamels, varnishes and stains.

  • Paints buildings interiors and exteriors, furniture, equipment and variety of structures.

  • Fills cracks and holes in walls and other surfaces with plaster or spackling paste.

  • Removes old paint and varnish by scraping, sanding or chemical stripping methods.

  • Applies paint and varnish with brush, roller and spray gun to surfaces that need protection and beautification.

  • Refinishes furniture and cabinets. Cleans and properly stores painting equipment.

  • Follow local and state building codes

  • Drive ChildServe maintenance vehicles

  • Keep the supervisor advised as to problem areas or needs on a daily basis

    Grounds

  • Keep ground and parking areas free of refuse, leaves, and limbs

  • Help in snow removal, sand and salt sidewalks and parking areas

  • Exercise proper safety practices in the use of and storage of all chemicals

  • Assist in snow removal, sands and salts sidewalks and parking areas

  • Perform minor repairs, adjustments and preventative maintenance to all lawn equipment

What You'll Need

  • Required: High school/equivalent or trade school education

  • Required: 3-5 years full-time experience as a painter

  • Be able to withstand exposure to the usual childhood diseases and conditions associated with children with disabilities

  • Requires excellent stamina, including bending, standing and walking during most of the day. Exposure to both heat and cold. Frequentcontact with water and strong cleaning agents and disinfectants.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
