Permanent position: Senior level Controls Engineer needed for a custom equipment manufacturer located near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this roll you will play a critical role in providing engineering technical support, control system recommendations and designing/developing best in class products.
Responsibilities for the Controls Engineer
Responsible for designing, developing and deploying a comprehensive controls strategy for the organization.
Critical resource in creating a best in class engineering organization through compilation of an electrical component selection guide to dictate component selection to sales, the mechanical design group, production, and suppliers.
Responsible for the timely delivery of the quoted controls package. Works closely with controls manufacturer (internal or external) during control panel assembly to ensure quality requirements and time line are met. Confirms that package provided is properly documented including but not limited to: drawings, bills of material, schematics, sketches, written and verbal instructions.
Designs acceptance criteria to verify machine operation, safety functionality and overall control system performance.
Development of a controls selection and pricing matrix based on product features / requirements to support the quoting process and improve speed to market.
Technical lead for high power microwave systems used for dielectric heating up to 150 kW, specifically in the 915 and 2450 MHz wavelengths.
Requirements for the Controls Engineer
BSEE, BSEET, BS Computer Science or a four year degree in a related field
PE strongly desired
Knowledge of industrial control networks, ie. EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, etc.
HMI Programming - Factory Talk, Automation Studio
PLC Programming using ladder logic and/or function block - Experience with one or more of the following: Rockwell Automation, B&R
