Estimating Manager

PRICE ELECTRIC is searching for a strong leader with extensive electrical construction design/build estimating experience to provide strategic estimating oversight, guidance on best estimating practices, and collaborative communications with Sales, Operations and Project Management.

Reporting to Vice President – Business Development, the Estimating Manager is responsible for the overall success of the Estimating team, including selection, schedule and scope of estimates. This manager will work out of our Robins, Iowa headquarters or Des Moines, Iowa branch.

Key duties:

  • Lead, manage and assess the Estimators.

  • Understand target markets and strategic customers set by Executives and establish and achieve plans to meet objectives.

  • Manage and prioritize proposal requests and schedule completion.

  • Review bid and contract documents for requirements, details, timing, and scope.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and bid strategy sessions.

  • Prepare comprehensive material, equipment and labor cost estimates for project bid proposals and change orders.

  • Support design and review efforts on design/build projects, including minimizing over design.

  • Provide design oversite on types of materials, gear and lighting selected and ensure detailed takeoffs are created.

  • Analyze any feasibility considerations and prepare alternate solutions as needed.

  • Review estimates for appropriateness, thoroughness, and accuracy prior to submittal.

  • Monitor and communicate new estimate schedules or labor hours to Operations.

  • Assist Project Managers with understanding estimates and completing post-award estimates.

  • Monitor estimated to actual costs, determine specific issues that affected an estimate and put corrective actions in place.

  • Enhance estimating tools and software and ensure the team is well trained.

  • Develop and execute estimating policies and procedures to advance lean construction.

  • Model company core values.

    Qualifications:

  • Four years of technical electrical training/education, such as Journeyperson Electrician licensing, to gain strong knowledge of National Electrical Code, building products, construction details, calculations, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.

  • Ten years of electrical construction estimating experience for advanced commercial design/build proficiency.

  • Demonstrated strengths in leading, critical thinking, planning, listening, communicating, problem solving, adapting, advancing teamwork, and achieving results.

  • Possess a valid driver license and acceptable insurability to drive for company business which may include overnight travel.
