Job Description

The Concrete Finisher is responsible for setting forms ensuring they are set to the correct depth and pitch, placing concrete either directly from the concrete wagon chute, concrete pump truck, concrete bucket or wheelbarrow, and finally finishing concrete to company standards.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Interpret Blue Prints and read survey stakes with a view to establish appropriate grades

  • Prepare worksites for concrete footings and assemble concrete forms on specified locations

  • Bend, form, tie and install rebar as illustrated in original blueprints or plans

  • Align, build and erect different types of concrete structures and foundations

  • Establish estimates of concrete quantity, indulge in procurement activities and ensure that proper mix of sand and cement are created

  • Perform wire mesh cutting duties and ensure that it is properly installed in designated places

  • Spread, level and smooth concrete by using rakes, shovels and trowels

  • Monitor how wind, heat and cold affects concrete curing during the entire process

  • Direct the casting of concrete and produce rough concrete surfaces

  • Fine finish concrete surfaces by performing any number of troweling, floating and brushing activities

  • Assist with the fabrication of concrete beams, columns and panels and build wooden molds and clamp them using appropriate hand tools

  • Restore or waterproof existing concrete structures by using appropriate compounds and sealants

  • Set forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch, depth, and alignment

  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges.

  • Additional duties as assigned


  • High School diploma/GED preferred

  • Must be 18 years in age or older

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook

  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required

  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls

  • Compliance with all OSHA and MSHA regulations

  • 1+ years’ construction industry experience preferred

  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures

  • Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle

  • Comfort working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations

  • Able to work in all weather conditions.

  • The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders.

  • Must be able to exert up to 10-20 lbs. constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally.
