Cosma International Controls Engineer in Victor, Iowa
Victor Manufacturing is located in Victor, Iowa and provides metal stampings and robotic weld assemblies as a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier
Reporting to the maintenance manager, the Controls Engineer provides programming installation and maintenance to new and existing production equipment.
Sets up new programs, PLC ladder logic, robot interfacing and documentation.
Setup and maintain PC, PLC, Robot, HMI, and weld control back-ups on all equipment.
Setup and maintain access levels for PLC and robots., documenting all changes.
Evaluate and make recommendation on equipment updates, new equipment, and software updates for PLC, HMI, and weld controls and makes approved changes.
Troubleshoot programming failures and makes adjustments and document as necessary.
Implements improvements in cycle time of robotic welding and assemblies.
Trains personnel in the use of robots and PLCs.
Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
Works with vendors and/or contractors, displaying company’s core values.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.
Assist in all maintenance and repair work in either the plant or on the grounds.
Trouble shooting of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC as needed.
Welding/fabricating and painting as required.
Responsible for helping maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Works in a safe manner and observes plant safety rules and regulations at all times.
Aware of all Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
Know and understand Victor Mfg. Quality policy.
Perform all other duties as required.
Knowledge and Education
High school diploma or GED
Two or four year degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field preferred and/or 4 years job related experience
3-5 years experience working with PLC and program robotic equipment.
Skills and Competencies
Understanding of metal stamping, spot welding and assembly processes.
Complete understanding of PLCs and programming with the ability to program/teach robots.
Electrical knowledge (National Electrical Code) and control wiring.
Intermediate computer skills required.
Able to prepare, read, write and interpret reports, instructions, procedures and business correspondence.
Must exhibit high integrity and honesty.
Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, requirements and business correspondences.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledgeable in Magna/Cosma equipment build standards. COMMUNICATION SKILLS
