Job Summary

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician for our operations and maintenance team in Waterloo, IA.

Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday hours may vary based on business demand.


  • Provide an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and servicing electrical issues associated with facility maintenance systems, including generators, ATS testing, electrical panel preventative maintenance, UPS, and switch gears in a manufacturing environment.

  • Troubleshoot and locate electrical problems in a variety of electrical equipment, controls, and electrical systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems and equipment, instruments, control systems, drives, and lighting systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and through a CMMS mobile device.

  • Operate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.

  • Operate equipment such as hand tools, computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management or Leads.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Five years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial, manufacturing or research environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • This position may require a valid Driver’s License.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of various electrical testing equipment, voltages up to 600V, and the National Electric Code (NEC).

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing 480V 3 phase.

  • Knowledge of test equipment for relays, circuit breakers, and infrared scanning.

  • PLC programming knowledge.

  • High voltage switch gear experience.

  • Experience working in a CMMS environment, i.e., Maximo.

  • Electrical Certification, including Master Electrician or Journeyman
