This position is eligible for a partial telework arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.
As a Tool Designer for John Deere Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will.
Design and model custom parts, assemblies, and create fabrication prints from limited written and verbal direction that will be used to create fixtures and/or gages for our production machining and assembly operations
Collaborate with a diverse group of team members and stake holders in a fast-paced environment to create safe, ergonomic, high quality, and effective designs and print packages that can be fabricated with standard machine tools and/or additive manufacturing

What Skills You Need
3 or more years experience with Creo 4 (or later) designing custom fixtures and/or gages
Proficient using MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficient specifying component raw materials and heat treat/surface finish based on tool application
Proficient selecting/sizing/specifying purchased items for designs based on tool application
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work overtime as required
What Makes You Stand Out
Experience designing custom fixtures or gages for the agriculture industry
Leading a team
Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics w/ ability to create schematics and perform calculations to size/specify component
Ability to perform basic stress/deflection calculations to validate projects, and/or, FEA experience
PDM Link experience
Proficient with MS Access
Create and/or edit VBA code
Software programming experience (Python, SQL, or similar)
Prioritize skills and experiences from most important to least
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Associate or bachelors degree in engineering or technology discipline or a bachelors degree in a related discipline or 10 more years equivalent experience in the tool, die, or mold industry
