Job Title: Civil Design Engineer in Des Moines

Job Description

The Civil Design Engineer will be primarily responsible for preparing plan sets, including drafting, designing, and managing storm water projects. This role involves attending client meetings regularly, developing project designs, and creating construction documents in Civil 3D. Additionally, the Civil Design Engineer will coordinate construction site inspections and observations, and handle all aspects of commercial and residential site design, athletic facility improvements, and other civil-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plan sets, including drafting and designing.

  • Manage storm water projects.

  • Attend client meetings regularly.

  • Develop project designs and construction documents in Civil 3D.

  • Coordinate construction site inspections and observations.

  • Design and develop commercial and residential sites, athletic facility improvements, and other civil projects.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Civil Engineering.

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

  • Project management skills.

  • Experience in commercial design, land development, storm water management, and site development.

  • B.S. in civil engineering.

  • EIT certification or ability to pursue certification.

  • 1-4 years of consulting experience.

  • Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

  • 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D (schooling counts).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Aspirations to take on a project manager role within 3-5 years.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Self-starter attitude.

Work Environment

The position is based in a satellite office located in West Des Moines, with several offices throughout the Midwest. The role involves working directly with the owner in an open office room. The environment is very quiet with little supervision, requiring a self-starter with excellent communication skills. You will occasionally collaborate with other offices on their projects.
