  • Engineering * MDUFI49207 Full-Time West Des Moines, IA, USA ### Description Overview: The primary responsibility of the MDU Fiber Engineer revolves around the design and engineering of fiber for existing MDU properties. These engineers will provide a route analysis for fiber within each building and unit. Responsibilities: * Overseeing and managing field engineering activities responsible for walkout, planning and designing for fiber routes inside MDU/Commercial spaces. * Visit customer sites to gather necessary information, evaluate customer requirements and determine the equipment required. * Work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer. * Develop base mapping, provide field engineering services required to prepare drawings and provide final as-built drawings in electronic format. * Recommend final route based on most economical solution. * Research and evaluate various route options associated with the projects. Research shall include existing customer conduit and other third party conduit. * Daily engagement with customers, engineering team and project management staff via emails / phone as well as occasional in-person meetings. * Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies. Qualifications: * * Must be at least 18 years old. * 2-4 years of experience in Fiber/MDU Engineering field. * Experience in fiber placement, splicing methods and best practices. * Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry. * A valid, unrestricted driver’s license (Commercial driver’s license preferred but not required). * For consideration, candidates must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle check, drug test, and DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card. * Ability to set up & maintain safe work areas. * Ability to work in all weather conditions. * Ability to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams. * Mechanically sound and able to problem solve issues. * Ability to distinguish colors. * Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. * Possess a valid driver’s license (class "C" minimum) or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position (possibly class "B" - light commercial). * Must be authorized to work in the United States. * Must be able to pass drug, background & MVR screenings. *Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
