Job Title: Structural Engineer in Des Moines!!

Job Description

Design and oversee the construction of buildings and other structures, ensuring their safety and durability. Utilize computer-aided design software to create 2D and 3D models. Analyze loads and pressures to ensure structural soundness. Collaborate with contractors and provide technical guidance on-site. Monitor project progress and report on results. Select appropriate materials to ensure durability and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee the construction of buildings and other structures.

• Ensure the safety and durability of structural designs.

• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models.

• Analyze loads and pressures to ensure structural soundness.

• Collaborate with contractors and provide technical guidance on-site.

• Monitor project progress and report on results.

• Select appropriate materials to ensure durability and compliance with safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in structural design using materials such as steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.

• Experience with Civil 3D and Revit.

• Strong project management skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.

• EIT certification required, preferably a licensed Professional Engineer.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Leadership experience is highly preferred.

Work Environment

Satellite office located in West Des Moines, with several offices throughout the Midwest. You will work directly with the owner and share an open office room. The office is very quiet with little supervision, so being a self-starter with good communication skills is essential. Occasionally, you will collaborate with other offices on their projects. The company has around 85-100 people in the MN offices and aims to grow the IA office to 8-10 employees in the next couple of years. The company is nationally known from their MN branch and is looking to grow the IA office.
