Shive Hattery Inc Structural Engineering Summer Internship in West Des Moines, Iowa
Shive-Hattery's West Des Moines office has an opportunity for a Structural Engineering Summer Intern. As an intern, you will work on real client projects, mentored by all levels of our structural group staff. Our group works on a wide variety of project and material types related to industrial, healthcare, education, government, and commercial buildings.
Because we are a full-service firm, you have the unique opportunity to collaborate with other in-house architecture and engineering disciplines. You will also learn software commonly used by structural engineering consultants, so you can hit the ground running when you start your first full-time job.
These experiences will help you understand the career progression of structural engineers and grow your technical skills. From these real-world interactions, you will develop the skills to communicate and collaborate with peers and clients while building your professional network.
Requirements:
- Student in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited engineering school
- Able to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication
- Curiosity and motivation to learn through both mentorship and self-study
