Job Introduction

Support manufacturing through shipping and receiving of products, raw materials, material handling, scrap removal, and organizing production, storage, and outside areas.

Major Responsibilities
  • Operate fork lift vehicles in safe and efficient manner

  • Attain safety, quality and productivity goals

  • Move containers of completed goods, parts, components, scrap, containers of in process parts, metal coils and other goods

  • Ensure dumpsters, baskets, racks and boxes are always available

  • Keep fork lifts maintained, fueled and in good working condition

  • Dump all scrap and trash bins at end of shift

  • Conduct shift carry over with other drivers

  • Attend training as required

  • Complete correspondence, forms, tags and reports as required

  • Follow all OSHA and Company policies for the safe practice of loading and unloading trucks

  • Maintain high standard of professionalism

  • Keep accurate records

  • Insure accurate signature, date and trailer number on bills of lading

  • Obtain signature on all paperwork required for receiving goods

  • Insure proper set up and correct amounts and part numbers

  • Insure proper storage placement of raw material

  • Organize coils to maintain First-In-First-Out System

  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example

  • Promote and facilitate the Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment

  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities

  • Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System, and company policies

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Safely operate shag truck to efficiently convey material between facilities

  • Move trailers as required by production needs to/from truck staging areas to facilitate material movement

  • Ensure equipment is in safe, working order by performing daily inspection of key equipment characteristics including fluid levels, and documenting on appropriate form

Knowledge and Education
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • Possess and maintain valid Commercial Drivers License with tractor-trailer and air brake endorsement (CDL A)

  • Possess and maintain valid Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) medical certification

  • Possess valid Road Test Certification or be able to pass a tractor-trailer road and yard test

  • Must have minimum of one year over the road tractor-trailer experience

  • Must not have had major chargeable accident in past three years

  • Must not have had more than one moving violation in past three years

  • Must pass D.O.T. pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen or have evidence of physical and drug/alcohol screen taken within past six months

Work Experience
  • 1+ year material handling experience

  • 0-1 year Over The Road driving experience

Skills and Competencies
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction

  • Able to pass tow motor license test and operate tow motor

  • Able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed

  • Must have "can do" attitude

  • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations

  • Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines

  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, supplier and customers

  • Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Work Environment
  • Plant floor characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise and considerable tow motor traffic

  • The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
